One voyage structure

Start with weather. Reuse the same voyage for passage appraisal.

Departure, destination, sailing time, speed, vessel particulars, and route points should be entered once. Voyage Weather will use them first. Passage Appraisal will later add navigational checks and company-supplied requirements to the same saved voyage.

Planning boundary

Distances are calculated between user-entered coordinates using simplified staged geometry. This does not account for charted hazards, traffic separation schemes, restricted areas, draught, UKC, weather routing, company requirements, or Master’s approval.

Departure

The port, berth, anchorage, or route position where the voyage assessment begins.

Destination

The intended arrival port, berth, anchorage, or route position.

Departure time

The expected sailing time used to align forecast conditions with the vessel’s progress.

Service speed

The expected average speed used to estimate when the vessel may reach each route section.

Route point

A latitude and longitude used to describe the intended route and sample forecast conditions.

Forecast time

The modelled date and time associated with conditions at a route point.

Safety and source boundaries

Useful support without pretending to be the official authority.

Crew-first must also mean honest limits. Multipass should explain where its information comes from, what it can assist with, and what remains the responsibility of the bridge team and official systems.

Official-source attribution

Every forecast and navigational reference must identify its source, model run, forecast time, and update time.

No invented company rules

Multipass will not infer company-specific UKC, speed, reporting, or navigation requirements. These must be supplied from the applicable SMS, standing orders, voyage instructions, or official company publications.

Forecast, not observation

Model forecasts are estimates and may change. They must be compared with warnings, observations, onboard instruments, and updated official information.

Decision support only

Multipass does not replace ECDIS, official charts, navigational publications, route checking, the navigating officer, bridge-team procedures, pilotage, or the Master’s approval.

Navigational limitation

Multipass Voyage Tools provide forecast interpretation, preparation, and decision support. They do not constitute an approved passage plan or navigational instruction and must not be used as the sole source for safe navigation.
